2780 Cure & Seal

2780 Cure & Seal is a permanent acrylic curing compound that is recommended to aid in the curing and sealing of concrete floors and slabs. It dries to a clear film and forms a tough abrasion resistant surface film with excellent mar and scratch resistance. 2780 Cure & Seal provides good resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, corrosive gases, alcohol, soap, detergents, beverage products, gasoline and water. Exposure to 300 degrees F for extended periods causes no apparent breakdown in the surface film. 2780 retards water evaporation from the new concrete to improve hydration and it also minimizes the possibility of surface dusting. 2780 dries in 30 minutes and forms a hard film in 2 hours. 2780 Cure & Seal meets the water retention specifications of ASTM C309.

The VOC content of this product is less than the 700 g/l limit for concrete curing and sealing compounds. This product is VOC compliant

VOC Content and Regulations

VOC stands for volatile organic compounds. While the actual definition is complex and depends on the type of products in which they are used, VOCs can generally be thought of as the solvent content of consumer products like polishes, cleaners, and paint removers and architectural and industrial maintenance coatings like paints and water repellants. Regulating (restricting) the amount of VOCs in products is one of the many ways government entities are trying to reduce air pollution by controlling the amount of hydrocarbons released into the atmosphere...Click here to read more about VOC regulations.

Preparation & Application
As soon as the concrete reaches the initial set, apply the first coat with either a lambs wool applicator or sprayer at the rate of 200 square feet per gallon. If 2780 is to be used as a hardener and sealer only, apply at the rate of 300 to 400 square feet per gallon. If a high finished gloss is required, apply a second coat to the cleaned floor after construction is completed.

For old concrete, clean the floor thoroughly removing all traces of grease, oil, waxes, floor finishes or stains. After the floor is completely dry (not just surface dry) apply a coat of 2780 with a lambs wool applicator at the minimum rate of 300 square feet per gallon. Apply a second coat 4 to 6 hours later and allow the surface to completely dry before opening to foot traffic.

Limitations
When using 2780 as a finish coat, all surfaces must be completely clean and dry prior to application of the first coat. Two coats will perform the best. Floors and decks treated with 2780 may be slippery when wet. Contact Shore Chemical for instructions for slip reduction additive if required.
