Vapor Blocking for slabs. Vapor Blocker and Paver Placer must be able to penetrate into the slab to work effectively.  The slab must be free of dirt, oils, and previous sealers.  For existing slabs, oils and dirt can be cleaned with an alkaline cleaner such as 2790 Con-D-Soil.  Sealers, including curing compounds, must be removed with appropriate stripper or by abrasive means.  For new installations water curing is recommended.  For contractors responsible for both the concrete installation and final slab preparation before installing the decorative flooring surface, 2730 should be considered as the curing agent.     

Vapor Blocker and Paver Placer will protect intact slabs but it is not designed to fill / bridge cracks.  Suitable grouts, crack fillers, or epoxy repair materials will be needed for complete protection.  Cementitious grouts or hydraulic cements should be applied before the application of 2730.  Epoxy or caulking materials may be used before or after the use of this product.  In some instances the densification and strengthening of the concrete by 2730 can improve the adhesion of the organic containing caulks.  

For stabilizing pavers.  2730 can harden and stabilize the sand between pavers to reduce washout in rain.  The product can also harden and reduce the water sensitivity of the paving stones.  Install the pavers as stated in the manufacturer’s instructions including following proper base composition and compaction and placing the recommended type of sand between the installed pavers.  For optimum performance, 2730 can also be used to consolidate the gravel and sand layers before paver installation.  It is recommended to apply 2730 just before compaction of the gravel and after screeding the sand layer.
