2300 Rust/Manganese Stain Remover
2300 Rust/Manganese Stain Remover is a blend of acids that is effective in the removal of rust, manganese, straw and some vanadium stains from brick. 2300 may be useful in the removal of these stains and some other metallic stains from concrete and some stone masonry. Preparation
Provide protection for foliage, vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Test all surfaces that might be exposed to the cleaner for possible adverse reactions. Protect all surfaces and surrounding areas from possible damage which might occur from spillage or spray during usage.
All projects should start with a test application to determine the suitability of the cleaner, acceptable application method and possible dilution ratio. Always pre-wet the surface prior to the application of the stain remover. Test areas involving the worst condition should be done prior to the start of general cleaning. The test area should be left to dry for at least 24 hours to allow for possible negative reactions to occur that might require the alteration of the cleaning method. Application
Pre-wet the surface and apply 2300 Rust/Manganese Stain Remover by acid brushes or low-pressure spray. Spray application at pressures greater than 40 p.s.i. should be avoided. Apply 2300 only after the masonry wall system has dried completely. The wall surface may appear to be dry, however, water trapped in the wall cavity will cause the stain to re-occur unless all of the water has evaporated from the cavity. If a moisture meter is not available, make a field test by duct taping a minimum one square foot piece of clear plastic to the wall and allow 24 hours to elapse before checking the surface. If, after 24 hours, there is no condensation behind the plastic then the wall is acceptable for stain removal. Conducting this test or using a moisture meter must be done to all sides of the structure, prior to cleaning, to ensure the best possible outcome.
Limitations
2300 Rust/Manganese Stain Remover is for use by professional contractors only. Do not use this product on any polished masonry surface. This cleaner contains ingredients that might remove color from colored mortars. Do not water blast the surface as a means of removal. Care must be taken to not drive additional water into the wall system that may cause the return of the stain to the surface. A thorough rinsing is required.
