2220 Safe Strip
2220 SafeStrip is a thick, clinging, fast acting, paint remover based on biodegradable ingredients. It can remove a variety of water and solvent borne paints, sealers, enamels and other coatings from masonry, wood and metal surfaces. 2220 can be used in the removal of graffiti done with marking pens, some spray paints and lacquers. 2220 is non-flammable, non-acid, non-caustic, and does not have a strong odor. It is ideal for use both indoors and outdoors. 2220 will not raise the grain and bleach wood like many caustic paint strippers. Preparation
Provide protection for pedestrians, vehicles, roofing and foliage. Test all other non-masonry surfaces for negative reactions and provide protection where required. Remove all loose materials from the surface prior to application. Protect all surrounding areas from possible damage due to spillage or drippage during application.
All projects should start with a test application to determine suitability of the material for the chosen project, method of application and dwell time.Application
Apply 2220 with solvent resistant brushes or rollers. Allow the remover to work for at least 15 minutes. If there is a heavy buildup of coating to be removed, agitation with a brush to work the stripper into the coating is often beneficial. Depending on the type of coating, the number of coats, and the ambient temperature, a dwell time of up to several hours may be necessary. Do not let surface dry. Remove bulk of loosened paint with mechanical scraper if conditions permit. Use high pressure water to remove remaining paint and stripper from masonry. Repeat as necessary for complete removal of coating. If the stripper dries before it can be removed, reapplication will be required to soften the dried material. Neutralization of the surface, after removal and rinsing, is not required.Limitations
2220 SafeStrip is for use by professional contractors only.Technical Data
Safety
Applicators must use OSHA recommended safety equipment such as solvent resistant gloves, protective clothing and eye protection. Direct contact with 2220 SB SafeStrip can cause irritation to the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Keep out of the reach of children. Close the container after each use. Due to the low volatility of the active ingredients local ventilation is normally sufficient except in the most confined areas. Do not alter 2220 with any other materials. Refer to the proper MSDS Sheet for more detailed handling instructions.Customer Service & Technical Assistance
