2200 ALKA Strip
2200 ALKA Strip removes multiple layers of latex paint, oil based paints and most graffiti from masonry in one application. This highly alkaline, biodegradable paste is blended with special wetting agents and surfactants that work slowly to strip each layer of paint to bring back masonry to its original appearance. 2200 ALKA Strip can be used to remove paint and vine stains from brick, stone, concrete and metal (not aluminum) surfaces. After the paint has been removed, all surfaces must be neutralized with the appropriate ShoreBest acid product. Preparation
Scrape or pressure wash loose material from the surface. Provide protection for foliage, vehicles and pedestrian traffic. Protect all surfaces and surrounding areas from possible damage which might occur from spillage or contact during application and removal of the stripper.
All projects should start with a test application to determine the suitability of the stripper, acceptable application method and dwell time. Test areas of at least 10square feet in area are recommended and should involve the thickest coatings. When possible, the test area should be left to age for 10 or more days to check for possible adverse reactions. Application
2200 ALKA Strip may be applied with nylon brushes, chemical resistant rollers or airless spray equipment. When applying with airless spray, make sure that the unit is equipped with Viton or other caustic resistant seals, chemical resistant hoses and contains no aluminum parts. Adjust the sprayer to apply the stripper in an even manner and to avoid atomization. Allow the stripper to work for at least 2 to 4 hours before testing to determine if all of the paint has been dissolved. For projects requiring the removal of large numbers of paint layers, dwell times of 18 to 24 hours may be required. When working in hot conditions or when extend usage may cause early drying, cover the stripper with plastic to extend dwell times.
Limitations
2200 ALKA Strip is for use by professional contractors only. Follow all EPA requirements for the disposal of lead paint solids or other paint solids to avoid ground contamination or discharge into public sewage plants. Always neutralize the surface with the appropriate ShoreBest acid cleaner to avoid leaving a haze on the surface, leaving a surface that cannot be repainted or treated with a clear water repellent. 2200 ALKA Strip may affect window film and other window treatments. 2200 ALKA Strip is not effective in the removal of cement-based coatings. Do not use as a furniture stripper.
