SB2422 Seretreat 10% [FED VOC 600]

SB Seretreat 2422 is a 10% solids siloxane resin solutions in a low odor solvent carrier that gives deep penetration into the masonry surface for a long lasting hydrophobic effect. In most cases, there is little or no color change in the appearance of the treated masonry. Seretreat is a reactive copolymer which does not require a catalyst and will treat all porous masonry to form a durable water repellent surface and subsurface. Successful applications have been made on brick, concrete, unpolished marble, limestone, unpolished slate and sandstone. The SB 2422 meets the Federal EPA requirements for VOC content, less than 600 grams/liter as calculated by EPA Method 24 and can be used in areas where the Federal regulations have not been superceded by state or local regulations. Do not thin or dilute as this will likely violate VOC requirements. Product not suitable for most split face hollow core block.

Preparation

SB 2422 is highly effective because it is extremely reactive with water. All surfaces, subsurfaces, and equipment must be completely dry to allow the material to penetrate before reaction with the substrate. Product may generate gas when stored for long periods of time. Carefully vent container when opening for the first time.

Protect all non masonry surfaces from dripping or over spray. Provide protection for windows, foliage, adjacent surfaces that are not to receive treatment, vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Take precautions to protect other surfaces from wind drift.

Using the method to be used on the project, apply an area of 10 square feet to calculate the coverage rate per gallon and to determine if there will be any unacceptable color change. All masonry surfaces should be clean, surface and subsurface dry prior to application.

Dilution and Coverage

Dilution: Product used undiluted — test application recommended.

Coverage: Approximately 70 to 200 square feet per gallon — dependent upon substrate and other conditions

Application

A spray application is preferred but roller and brush applica- tions can be successful as long as there is dry surface saturation. Spray equipment must be clean and equipped with solvent resistant hoses and gaskets. Apply with a coarse low pressure spray creating a saturating 6 to 10 inch run down of the fluid. On extremely porous surfaces, use 2 wet-on-wet applications. Do not allow to pond on horizontal surfaces. Overspray on most non-porous surfaces can be removed with most window cleaners and a plastic scrubbing pad. Do not apply in conditions of condensing humidity (dew) or if rain is expected within 12 hours of application or before all of the solvent has completely evaporated.
