Preparation
When applying this product it is recommended to thoroughly clean the surface with a quality cleaner like SB 2790 Con-D-Soil and pressure wash to remove any dirt, stains or loose sealer. Allow surface to dry completely before applying SB 2444.
Provide protection for all surfaces not intended to be treated. Test all areas to determine if there will be any adverse effects. SB 2444 is not visible on most porous surfaces but only a test application will determine if there will be any changes that might be unacceptable. Allow the test area to dry before making a final determination regarding acceptance for your project.
Dilution and Coverage
Dilution: Product used undiluted — test application recommended
Coverage: Approximately 300 to 400 square feet per gallon –dependent upon substrate and other conditions
Application
Apply undiluted SB 2444 to clean, dry surface by low pressure pump sprayer, roller or brush making sure that a thorough saturation of the surface is accomplished. DO NOT ATOMIZE product with a commercial sprayer such as an airless or cup gun HVLP. Coverage on sparingly porous surfaces like slate, granite and marble may be higher. On smooth or polished surfaces like slate, granite, marble or tile, application with a microfiber or lambs wool pad will give a more even application.
For polished surfaces like countertops, use a soft cloth or paper towel to wipe up excess after 15 minutes to avoid darkening the color. If the substrate is very porous and a heavier application is desired, two thinner coats are better than one heavy application. If applying second coat, it must be applied before first coat dries – wet on wet.
Allow SB 2444 to dry until surface no longer has a wet appearance. While the surface will be highly resistant, its oil repellency will increase over the first 4 hours.
SB 2444 is for use by professional contractors only. All masonry surfaces must be free of any material that will prevent penetration of the fluid. Application should not be undertaken when rain is expected within 24 hours or if there is dew, frost or ice on the surface. Do not alter the product with any other material.
