SB2740 Concrete Protective Coating SARC

SB 2740 Concrete Protective Coating SARC is a custom blended, high performance acrylic latex coating for the protection of vertical and roofing surfaces made from architectural concrete, concrete block, some metal and wood surfaces. SB 2740 has been used for above grade waterproofing concrete block when a flexible coating is required to maintain the integrity between the concrete block and the mortar joint. SB 2740 provides long term protection to concrete surfaces that have had extensive repairs and there is a need for a unifying color or color change. This product is not intended for walking or wear surfaces.

Preparation

Application is to be made to clean, dry and sound surfaces. All containers must be mechanically stirred with a Jiffy Mixer that does not allow for air bubble formation. If colors are in use, box several containers together to avoid possible color varia- tion. Prepare enough material to work from a control joint, expansion joint or corner to avoid possible color changes within a work area that does not have a natural separation point.

Protect any surface that is not to receive the coating from over spray, dripping or other means of exposure to the coating. An on-site application of 5 to 10 square feet of area is recom- mended to check for color and general appearance acceptance. Allow the test area to dry for 24 hours prior to review.

Dilution and Coverage

Dilution: SB 2740 may be “thinned” with up to 20% water to allow for easier application.

Coverage: Dependent upon substrate and other conditions

Application

SB 2740 can be applied by spray, roller or brush using the crosshatch method. If the first coat is applied vertically the second coat must be applied horizontally to provide for an even finished appearance. Two coats are required for any project. Each coat will dry for re-coat within 4 hours at 70 degrees F and 50% humidity. Application of subsequent coats, before the appropriate dry time, can lead to bond failure between the paint films. It is recommended that the first coat be thinned with water and used as a primer coat when application is to an unprimed surface. Clean all equipment with soap and water.

Do not apply to a wet surface or when rain is expected with 12 hours. Minimum application temperature is 50 degrees F surface & ambient and rising. Do not apply to surfaces that are above 95 degrees F. Reseal the container after withdrawing material. Do not use coatings that have been frozen and thawed.
