Preparation
All surfaces must be clean and the subsurface and surface dry. Protect all foliage, windows, adjacent surfaces that are not to receive the treatment, vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Close off all ventilation and other means of vapor entry into the structure. Dilute the SB 2401 according to specifications or the suggested rates outlined in this document. Using the method to be used on the project, apply an area of 10 square feet to determine the consumption rate.
Dilution and Coverage
Dilution:
Test application recommended.
1:9 equals a 10% solution.
1:14 equals a 7% solution.
Coverage:
Dependent upon substrate and other conditions.
Application
A spray application is preferred but roller and brush application may be acceptable for some projects. Apply with low pressure spray (20 psi) taking care not to atomize the fluid. For vertical surfaces, a flood coat is required where a run down of 6 to 10 inches is obtained below the application point. When used for very porous surfaces, a wet on wet application will give the best results. On dense surfaces only a single application is required. For horizontal surfaces, don’t apply so much product that it “ponds” on the surface. Excess material must be back-rolled, squeegeed or rinsed off to avoid darkening of the surface from product that does not soak into the surface. Clean all equipment with soap and water. All diluted material must be used within 72 hours. DO NOT return diluted SB 2401 back to original container.
Dilute SB 2401 with clean water only. Do not apply when the surface and ambient temperature are below 40 degrees F or when rain is expected within 8 hours. All diluted material must be used within 48 hours of dilution. Do not return unused material to original container.
Reseal the SB 2401 concentrate container after each use. Maximum storage of this concentrated product is one year after purchase when protected from sunlight and stored at temperatures above freezing. Full water repellency is not reached until 72 hours after application. Do not recoat surfaces after they have dried. SB 2401 is not recommended for interior applications. Take all precautions to avoid spillage resulting in discharge into water and sewage intakes.
