SB 2444 Penetrating Oil & Stain Repellent is a water-based formula of fluorinated materials and binding agents. This unique penetrating repellent is designed to provide the highest degree of oil and stain repellency expected from fluorocarbons but avoids the poor durability often associated with these materials. On porous masonry surfaces, it penetrates to give protection without changing the surface appearance. This product is permeable to water vapor and can be used on both horizontal and vertical surfaces.

Concrete Consolident with Water Repellent

SB 2458 is a penetrating treatment for stabilizing and consolidating most porous masonry surfaces including natural stone, unglazed terra cotta, cast stone and architectural concrete. Masonry that has been previously damaged by abrasive cleaning methods, masonry suffering from erosion and surfaces that have begun to lose their surface integrity for various reasons are often saved by the use of a treatment like SB 2458. Unlike most other consolidents, SB 2458 also contains ingredients that impart moderate water repellency.SB 2458 reacts with the masonry matrix to recreate lost binders and minerals to improve the density, strength, and structural integrity of the masonry substrate. Porosity is reduced but the surface is not sealed against water vapor transport. Depending on the nature of the original surface and the amount of SB 2458 used, the treated surface will develop resistance to water absorption and reduced deterioration from freeze/thaw cycles.In general SB 2458 can penetrate more deeply than the solvent borne products and will lead to better bonding of the highly consolidated surface layers with the interior structure of the masonry. This avoids the creation of stress points below the surface where highly consolidated and non-consolidated layers meet thus reducing freeze/thaw induced spalling.This product will not penetrate modern, dense, clay brick or glazed tile and, if the product is allowed to dry on them, a difficult to removed white film may develop. Similarly if an otherwise porous masonry surface has been previously treated with a sealer or water repellant, this product is unlikely to penetrate the surface. If the primary objective is to improve the water resistance of the mortar between nonporous masonry, it is recommended to use one of ShoreBest’s siloxane based water repellants instead of the SB 2458.

Lithium Concrete and Masonry Consolident

SB 2451 is a penetrating lithium silicate treatment for stabilizing and consolidating most porous brick, natural stone, unglazed terra cotta, cast stone and architectural concrete. Masonry that has been previously damaged by abrasive cleaning methods, masonry suffering from erosion and surfaces that have begun to lose their surface integrity for various reasons are often saved by the use of a treatment like SB 2451. The SB 2451 reacts with the masonry matrix to recreate lost binders and minerals to improve the density, strength, and structural integrity of the masonry substrate. Unlike products based on sodium and potassium silicates, the lithium silicate in SB 2451 does not require the presence of free calcium hydroxide in the matrix to bind to the substrate and become insoluble. No potentially expansive gel is formed. Porosity is reduced but the surface is not sealed against water vapor transport. Depending on the nature of the original surface and the amount of SB 2451 used, the newly treated surface should have less water absorption and reduced deterior- ation from acid rain attack. Unlike older technology consolidents, SB 2451 is water based and does not suffer the odor, flammability and VOC problems associated with those products. In general SB 2451 can penetrate more deeply than the solvent borne products which lead to better bonding of the highly consolidated surface layers with the interior structure of the masonry. This avoids the creation of stress points below the surface where highly consolidated and non-consolidated layers meet thus reducing freeze/thaw induced spalling. Full strength and water resistance of the consolident is generally achieved in about a week however the masonry can be returned to service as soon as the surface is dried.

Oil Repellent Penetrating Sealer

SB 2445 Oil Repellent Penetrating Sealer is a solvent solution of a very effective reactive water repellent combined with a durable fluorocarbon oil and stain repellent. Either technology alone would make this a premium product but the synergy of the ingredients working together forms a durable, non-visible, penetrating treatment on most construction material surfaces. This product will create an oil and water repellent shield on concrete, wood, masonry, and cloth surfaces. This product can be used on exterior concrete and masonry as well as interior decorative stone surfaces. It is effective in blocking the absorption of both petroleum oils and food grade fats and oils. This product is formulated with VOC exempt solvents and meets the VOC requires of OTC model states.

Its highly UV stable formula provides long lasting protection from acid rain deterioration, minimizes freeze/thaw damage and remains flexible during periods of masonry expansion and contraction. Ulster Flex also makes graffiti removal easier when surfaces are defaced with paints, spray paint, lipstick, crayon and most other commonly used materials.SB 2434 Ulster Flex 20% Federal VOC 600 and SB 2435 Ulster Flex 20% OTC VOC 400 are designed to be used on split face hollow core concrete block only. This higher solids formula creates a hydrophobic barrier, within the block pores, with the same flexible material as the SB 2432/SB 2433. Due to the different methods used in the manufacture of split face hollow core block, some surfaces may require two coats to affect a weatherproof condition when exposed to wind driven rain.It is recommended that all split face concrete block be tested with one or two applications prior to the start of a project.A slight darkening or “wet” look appearance change may be seen on some substrates.All Ulster Flex products meet the Federal EPA standards for Volatile Organic Content (VOC) of 600 grams/liter as calculated by EPA Method 24. Certain states and jurisdictions require more restrictive limits on VOC content. SB 2433 and SB 2435 are formulated with solvent blends that meet the more stringent VOC level of 400 grams/liter as calculated by the method that excludes the volume of exempt solvents.
