Water Repellents | |

Water Repellents are generally made from silicon based chemicals. They resist the penetration of liquid water into above grade surfaces but allow the free exchange of vapor phase water to allow the structure to “breathe” properly. Most of these products penetrate the surface to leave little or no visible change in appearance except when wet. Ulsterflex products tend to set on the surface and are designed for treating very porous substrates like split faced concrete block. Many of the ShoreBest™ Water Repellents are based on sophisticated chemistry not used by most manufacturers. Water Repellents should not be confused with waterproofing materials designed to prevent intrusion of ground water into below grade structures. | |
