New Masonry Cleaners are designed for removing excess mortar and construction debris from newly erected brick, block, and stone. With today’s variety of specialty bricks and stone, the traditional use of muriatic acid to clean new masonry risks creating serious discoloration by activating iron, manganese, vanadium, and other materials present. The staining often doesn’t appear until several weeks or months after the cleaning, and this leads to disputes between contractors and building owners.
